This home page for the Society, www.sis.ac.uk, was registered in 2005 by the UK's academic domain names body, UKERNA. The move to the .ac.uk domain reflects the national role played by the Society in the academic life both of the UK and of Ireland. We are grateful to Oxford University Computing Service for its help in making this important development possible, and to Graham Nelson for his development of the platform on which the site runs. We are also grateful to the University of Leeds, which hosted the previous web site for many years.
