Impact and Knowledge Transfer - Introduction

'Impact may account for 30% of researchers' marks in REF' (THES, 23 July 2009).

These pages are designed as a resource to help members of the SIS find more information about questions of impact and knowledge transfer as they relate to the broad discipline of Italian Studies. They provide some definitions, drawn from recent papers published by the AHRC and British Academy, and attempt to synthesise some of these papers' conclusions about possible ways forward. And they provide examples of ways in which colleagues within Italian Studies are already engaging creatively with the Impact and Knowledge Transfer agendas. Since such engagement looks likely to count for up to 30% of departments' REF scores, this is a pressing issue. It is the aim of the SIS to help colleagues to engage with this agenda by serving as a source of both information and examples of good practice.
