21 August 2009 ALL PAST CONTRIBUTORS TO ITALIAN STUDIES: IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Italian Studies was founded in 1937 as the annual journal of the Society for Italian Studies (SIS). Over the years, Italian Studies has developed a national and international reputation for academic and scholarly excellence, publishing original, peer-reviewed articles (in Italian or English) on a wide range of Italian cultural concerns from the Middle Ages to the contemporary era. The journal welcomes scholarly and critical work on Italy's literary culture and also work on Italy from a range of other disciplines and inter-disciplinary fields, including history, politics, linguistics, art history, film, gender and cultural studies. A reviews section covers a similarly broad spectrum of Italian-related publications and keeps readers informed of the most recent works of scholarship. Both established figures and young researchers regularly publish in the journal and recent issues have included work by contributors from the UK, Ireland, Italy and other countries of mainland Europe, North America, and Australia. In 2005 it moved from annual to bi-annual publication and is now published by Maney Publishing on behalf of the Society. One of the two issues per year may be a special issue, devoted to a single field of research. The Senior Editor welcomes proposals for special issues.
